MHN Loses Legal Battle with Union - June 16, 2019

MHN Government Services Loses Battle with MFLC Union in Colorado:

The National Labor Relations Board released its decision today and found that MHN’s objections to the election are overruled. MHN, in a desperate attempt to silence the voices of its Colorado MFLCs, challenged the outcome of the election results when the MFLCs voted in favor of Union representation on April 5, 2019.

MHN and the Union made their arguments and presented witnesses in a two daylong hearing in Denver, Colorado. MHN brought in Betsy McBride, Kenneth Rodriquez and their Union Buster Michael Crowley of https://anh.com to provide testimony at the hearing. After much deliberation, the NLRB ordered that MHN’s objections be overruled in their entirety and certification of the election be issued. MHN could appeal the decision again as a stall tactic, but their appeal attempts would be futile.

UPDATE - MHN appealed that decision and awaiting a response. Seems they have more money to pay legal cost to silence their workers voices rather than to give to the MFLCs who actually earned it to begin with.

ARE YOU READY FOR CHANGE?

Signing up now with this confidential authorization card is necessary to bring you and your co-workers a vote at your work sites. Under NLRB procedures, the Union needs a 30% showing of interest of MFLCs by each employer in order to bring this action to the forefront. However, the Union knows that your success relies on a majority support. If achieved, then you can cast your ballot in favor of the chance at earning better wages, benefits and improving your working conditions -  its your choice! Even if your employer is offering to increases benefits in order to avoid their workers being unionized, take the money and still sign a card - we will negotiate from where you are at the time of your election win and the employer can not take it away from you if you vote YES!!

MFLCs Vote "YES" to Unionize

Magellan, Spectrum and MHN MFLCs won all 3 of their Colorado Elections on 4/5/2019

MHN is challenging the vote outcome for now, but the Union will win that argument in the coming days through an NLRB hearing. We will keep you posted on that matter.

In a few short days, the NLRB will certify the election results and then we can begin the process of preparing for negotiations. Surveys will be forthcoming to the MFLCs to get their input and suggestions. Stay tuned to this site for more details.

Why the IAM and how can they help MFLCs?

Your MFLC Organizing Committee did their research and reached out to the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW). They, in turn, referred them to the experts with government contracts.  That's when they discovered that the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) was the Union with the most expertise of representing workers, especially in the Service Contract arena. With nearly 600,000 active and retired members, the IAM is one of the largest and most diverse labor Unions in North America.  You’ll find IAM members working in Aerospace, Transportation, the Federal Government, Automotive, Healthcare, Defense and several other industries.

Together we have been able to bargain for increased job security, higher wages and improved benefits, especially for workers employed on military installations working under the Service Contract Act. The IAM Union is present on nearly every military installation in North America, representing tens of thousands of Service Contract employees. These Unionized workers earn thousands of dollars more per year than non-unionized workers.

By forming a Union, workers provide themselves with the opportunity to secure a voice in their workplace and ensure justice on the job. Union members are able to sit down with management as equals and bargain for better workplace conditions. For some, that might be higher wages and better benefits; for others, it might be job security or fair treatment. Regardless of your specific needs, the Union is here to help the MFLCs earn higher wages and benefits and job security.

Our experience with government contracts for working people is unparalleled. At each contract there’s a bargaining committee (in this case it would be made up of MFLCs) who tells us what is important to their members. That’s how we use our expertise and 131 years of experience at the table to get you what you need/want. Your employer is thinking in terms of the numbers or the bottom line, like so many employers do.  But that’s exactly why you need the Union -  to be safe at work, to get paid a fair wage with good benefits, to not have to be forced to work overtime so that you can spend time with family, to get paid holidays/time off so that important family moments aren’t missed.  You join so you have rules so that when the company ONLY talks about the bottom line, there’s someone in your corner talking about the people who make that bottom line happen.

The Union is you! We can bring in any industry expert or guru you need, but we are the ones you rely on to get the best contract possible. Especially when we are talking about government contracts with the Military.  Just look at what we’ve been able to accomplish for hundreds of thousands of working men and women across North America. Our “numbers” speak for themselves! The IAM is the only organization that will give you a voice in your workplace! The only organization that is responsive to you!
